FIFA World Cup 2022 Ambassadors – As the days go by, the FIFA World Cup is approaching nearer than never before. The Qatar FIFA World Cup is scheduled to kick off from 21st November 2022. Historically, the world cup tournaments are held in month of June-July but due to extreme heat wave in Qatar during this time, the world cup is scheduled in November-December.

The promotion of the tournament is on full swing and FIFA has named it’s official Ambassadors. FIFA has named five global ambassadors and ten local ambassadors for the game.

What is FIFA World Cup 2022 Ambassadors Role?

So what exactly is an Ambassador? What is the role of FIFA World Cup Ambassador? Well, Ambassadors are people who have a huge fan base and have achieved great success in their careers and now are honored to promote football in various parts of the world. FIFA World Cup is a huge tournament and with the help of this platform, FIFA tries to reach out and help various underprivileged communities in the world.

FIFA World Cup 2022 Global Ambassadors

Five Global Amabassadors have been named by FIFA for the Qatar football world cup. Check out the list of FIFA World Cup 2022 global ambassadors.

Tim Cahill

The Australian football legend Tim Cahill was declared as the Global Qatar Legacy Ambassador in February 2020. Tim Cahill is all time leading goal scorer for Australia with 50 goals in 108 international match appearances. Tim Cahill has also represented Australia at four FIFA World Cup. 

As an ambassador of the game, Tim works with Generation Amazing. He also live in Qatar to fulfil his role of Chief Sports Officer at Aspire Academy.



Cafu is a legendary Brazilian footballer who has lifted 20 trophies globally in his 18 year football career. During Copa America 2019, when Qatar participated in the tournament as invitees, Brazil’s former captain and two time world cup winner Cafu was declared the Global Qatar Legacy Ambassador. 

Cafu is a ideal role model and ambassador for game of football. Education through sports is something Cafu believes in. His intensive work in Jardim Irene area of São Paulo makes him perfect for this role.

Samuel Eto’o

The former Barcelona star and Cameroon’s football brand Samuel Eto’o was officially declared as Global Qatar Legacy Ambassador. Samuel was also four time African Player of the year. For past few years as an ambassador, Eto’o has worked on Qatar special legacy projects. In 2019, Samuel Eto’o along with H.H. Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser visited a refugee children’s school in Malaysia to have a look at their work of Education above all foundation. 

Xavi Hernández

In March 2018, The Spanish FIFA World Cup winner and former Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez was officially named as first Global Qatar Legacy Ambassador. Xavi currently resides in Qatar with his family and is coach of Qatar Stars League side Al Sadd. Xavi is also active participant of flagship social responsibility programme Generation Amazing.  

Xavi has been working with Generation Amazing well before becoming ambassador. He has been actively working to promote football since 2016. Xavi visited India in 2019 to open a Generation Amazing pitch. He also conducted development training sessions for local children. 

Ronald de Boer

The most recent addition to the list of global ambassador for FIFA World Cup 2022 is Ronald de Boer. Ronald is two time Dutch player of the year and is known as worldclass midfielder. 

Ronald de Boer has a long standing relationship with Qatar. He resided in Qatar along with his family for seven years. Ronald de Boer finished his football career at Qatari club Al Rayyan and Al Shamal from 2005 to 2008. 

De Boer has been part of Generation Amazing since 2010.

Adel Khamis

Adel Khamis is a brand of football in Qatar. Khamis is considered the best defender the Qatar national team has ever had. Adel Khamis has represented Qatar in 1992 Arabian Gulf Cup. He played a major role in claiming the trophy for the first time.  



Ahmad Khalil

Amhad Khalil is a former Qatari football player. He was a goalkeeper and part of a famous team which won the 1992 Arabian Gulf Cup. With only one goal conceded in the complete tournament, Ahmad Khalil won the golden glove award.  



Ali Al-Habsi

Ali Al-Habsi os the first Arab player to have won the English FA Cup in 2013. Omani Al Habsi is a legend whose career spans for more than 18 years. He played all over the world and represented various clubs which include Bolton Wanderers, Wigan Athletic, Brighton & Hove Albion, Reading. He has played over 350 matches which also include 100 International matches.  


Ibrahim Khalfan

Today’s generation will recognize Ibrahim Khalfan as beIN SPORTS analyst. But Ibrahim Khalfan is considered as the greatest Qatari footballer the country has ever produced. He represented Qatar in 90 international matches and was part of the team which qualified for Summer Olympics 1984 in Los Angeles. 


Khalid Salman

Midfielder Salman Khalid was an important player of the Qatar team which made the finals of 1981 FIFA World Cup Youth Championships. Khalid Salman scored a hattrick against Brazil in the quarters and later defeated England in the semi finals. 


Mohammed Aboutrika

One of the few players to have a cabinet full of trophies is Mohammed Aboutrika. The Egypt legend has won seven league titles, CAF Championships five times, Africa Cup of Nations twice and many more tournaments. Since the 2014 Brazil World Cup, Aboutrika has been part of beIN SPORTS analyst. 

Mohammed Aboutrika has been named one of the FIFA World Cup 2022 Ambassadors.

Mohammed Saadon Al Kuwari

Mohammed Saadon Al Kuwari is one of the non footballers who have made it to this list. Mohammed Saadon Al Kuwari is a former tennis player on ATP Tour and has represented Qatar in Davis Cup. Currently, he is sports journalist and analyst at beIN SPORTS.



Mubarak Mostafa

A two time winner of Arabian Gulf Cup, Mubarak Mostafa was top scorer and player of the tournament in 1992. Mubarak has scored 34 goals for Qatar and is widely considered as the best Qatari player of all time. Mubarak Mostafa is officially one of the FIFA World Cup 2022 Ambassadors.




Wael Gomaa

Wael Gomaa is a star player for Egypt and Al Ahly. He has managed to win the Africa Cup of Nations thrice with Egypt. He also won the best defender in each of the tournaments. Wael Gomaa has also won the CAF Champions League six times with Al Ahly. 



Younis Mahmoud

With 148 international appearances, Younis Mahmoud is one of the well known names in Iraqi football. He won the 2007 Asian Cup and ended the tournament as most goalscorer and was also awarded as best player of the tournament.
