The 31 year old Dutch midfielder broke his leg during the training in Roma’s outfits. The Dutchman has just played for 12 mins for the club and is expected to return in January 2023.
Injured Georginio Wijnaldum To Miss FIFA World Cup 2022: The 31 year old Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum is speculated to miss the FIFA World Cup 2022 after sustaining a leg injury which will keep him out for three months.
The former Liverpool player broke his leg during training sessions and now faces a race against time. The FIFA World Cup is scheduled to kick off in around 80 days and according to reports Wijnaldum will be out for 3 months.
The news regarding Georginio emerged after Roma’s manager Tiago Pinto officially said on Roma’s website that they will have to wait for Georginio Wijnaldum till January 2023.
The Netherlands have not officially ruled out their midfielder but it’s highly unlikely that Georginio Wijnaldum will return to field before 20th November 2022.
Georginio Wijnaldum had joined Roma just few days before on 12 month loan from PSG. Wijnaldum has played just 12 minutes for the new team.
While speaking to Roma’s website, Tiago Pinto said,
“I think he will be our big January reinforcement. We signed him for the whole season, but we’ll wait for him in January. It was unfortunate. In a week it looked like he had been here for a year.
The Netherlands have been drawn in Group A along with Qatar, Senegal and Ecuador. The Netherlands will be looking to make a mark after missing out the place at FIFA World Cup 2018.
